BROOMFIELD — Quality Bicycle Products Inc., a Minnesota-based distributor of bicycle parts and accessories, has closed its Broomfield-based educational division.
The U of Q Institute, previously known as the Barnett Bicycle Institute, provided training for bicycle mechanics.
“Due to forecasted reductions in student enrollment, the U of Q Institute in Broomfield, Colorado, has ceased classroom training, effective May 23, 2023. All previously scheduled training courses are canceled,” according to an announcement on the company’s website.
“Reverberations of the global pandemic continue to impact the bike industry, including forecasted enrollment for in-depth, classroom-style professional training that is a hallmark of the Institute,” Rich Tauer, president of Quality Bicycle Products, said in a prepared statement. “Ceasing classroom training is a business decision based on the foreseeable demand for this service.”
Students who pre-registered for coursework will be refunded the full amount they paid for course registration, the company said.
Quality Bicycle Products in 2022 opened a 96,000-square-foot distribution center at 12805 W. 112th Ave. in Broomfield.
