Native Roots golf tournament raises more than $86K for Last Prisoner Project

DENVER — Native Roots Cannabis Co., a Denver-based dispensary chain with Boulder Valley locations in Longmont and Boulder, raised $86,400 in a charity golf tournament last month that will be donated to the Last Prisoner Project, a nonprofit organization that supports people incarcerated on cannabis charges.

The tournament itself garnered $43,200, a sum that was matched by cannabis technology platform Dutchie.

“We are incredibly grateful for all who turned out to help support the incredible work of the Last Prisoner Project, whose efforts will never be complete until every last unfairly imprisoned person is released,” said Buck Dutton, vice president of marketing at Native Roots. “As members of the cannabis industry, we have a responsibility to try and make things right with regard to the unjustified imprisonment of thousands of people over cannabis charges that are no longer illegal today. We thank the great folks at Dutchie for matching our donation and are so grateful to the Last Prisoner Project for its ongoing work.”
