Bed Bath & Beyond files for bankruptcy protection

UNION, New Jersey — Bed Bath & Beyond (Nasdaq: BBBY) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sunday in a move that was anticipated because of flagging sales.

The Washington Post reported that the retailer sought the protection of bankruptcy in order to reorganize and prepare some of its assets for sale.The retail chain has 15 stores in Colorado, including those in Fort Collins, Longmont and Westminster. It closed its Loveland store this year.
